E's Fall Haul 2013: Beauty & Make-Up Products

HI, AGAIN! And happy December!

Sorry for the hiatus; I have been swamped with my senior capstone project this past month and a half. It's a year-long project, but this semester's hard part is finally over! (Now for finals...)

Anyways, before finals week officially kicks in, I decided to gather up some of my fall purchases starting from the beginning of this semester. I am currently unemployed for the semester, but thankfully getting through life thanks to my parents. All this time, I thought I had been doing a good job not spending money on personal shopping, but wow, it's racked up a bit more than I imagined. And let's not forget about the damages from Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Oops...

Since I don't want this post to get obnoxiously long, I'm going to split my haul posts into 3 parts: Beauty & Make-Up Products, Apparel & Shoes, and Accessories.

WARNING: This is still a fairly long post, but hope you all enjoy!
Also, DISCLAIMER: These haul posts from Karen and I are not intended to brag about our purchases, but simply to share and review products we decided to try out. I'm also in the process of organizing my "style" (if that makes any sense) and renewing my closet; out with the old and in with the new!

Beauty & Make-Up Products
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in "Plum Velour" from Target - $5.99
I posted about this in my first post "Inspired by K," but I figured it wouldn't hurt to add a little review here. I was on a hunt for a dark wine red lipstick and ended up purchasing this instead. It's not quite the color I was looking for but my lip collection can almost be defined as non-existent so I figured this isn't such a bad purchase! For those who tend to get dry lips, this isn't your enemy! It isn't super moisturizing, but is just right, at least for my taste.

SEPHORA COLLECTION 10-HR Wear Perfection Foundation in #25 Medium Beige from Sephora - $20

Although I started wearing make-up towards the end of high school/beginning of college (experimenting over the years), I never got into face products until I had the worst break-out phase of my life this past summer and deemed it pretty much necessary (#overdramatic). I purchased my first foundation 2 years ago for some coverage here and there and although it was a great drugstore product, I figured it was getting a little old and wanted to invest in a bit of an upgrade. Karen and I took a trip down to Charlottesville, VA a couple months ago and stopped by Sephora (we don't have one near our school). Both of us were on a hunt for a better foundation so one of the associates encouraged us to scan in with their Color IQ, which scans 3 different spots of your face and detects the best-fitting shade in all of Sephora's foundation products (awesome technology). Karen and I were really interested in both Kat Von D's Lock-It Tattoo Foundation and the Sephora brand. Unfortunately, the Color IQ didn't quite accurately detect my shade, but the associate applied the Kat Von D foundation on me and although it was great coverage and didn't need much product for it, it was a little too thick for me. Like I said, the Color IQ wasn't quite the success for me, but it was for Karen! Karen helped me look for my shade in the Sephora brand and we both walked out happy.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Classic Mineral Powder Brush #45 from Sephora - $24
Along with our new foundation, Karen and I were also on the hunt for a good foundation brush since the cheap drugstore ones were doing us no good. This brush is ideal for loose powder or mineral foundation, but honestly, this works great for liquid foundation as well (as long as it isn't too runny). We're both very fond of this purchase!

e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator and Eyebrow Kit from Walmart - $3 each
As a bored college student sitting in class, I was going through another thread on Buzzfeed and came across the e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator, which had pretty positive reviews. My lips tend to be on the dry side (although Nivea has been doing wonders for me) and in the back of my mind, I have always wanted an inexpensive lip exfoliator. I didn't hesitate to purchase this especially since it wouldn't be a waste regardless for trying it out (only $3!). The e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit isn't a new product for me; I've tried it before in the past and works fairly well for its value so I thought I'd go ahead and purchase it again.

I believe that's it for my beauty and make-up "haul" ... I didn't go too crazy on purchasing! #proudmoment
